Dayna Johnson

“You’re always weaving a story girl! I tell you one detail and you just take it and run with it”. My mom has been saying those same words to me since I can remember. That should have given me a clue that creating stories was just a part of me. I can admit I love a good storyline, one with twists, turns, thought provoking rhetoric, and riddled with layers that keep you at the edge of your seat. The research, the questions, the detail required to create a story is why I enjoy the process of storytelling. Throughout the process I am able to create, ask, research, understand, express without limitations, and just get lost within the scope of the work. I view creativity as the window into one’s soul that provides so many of us the solace to leave our imprint within conventional spaces.

What keeps me motivated is being able to help the creative access their authentic voice. I take pride in being able to create and ask discovery questions, find information, and flesh out the details of a person’s story. I enjoy delving into the nitty-gritty aspects of a creative’s story, fleshing out the parts of their life that they may deem irrelevant, but often times holds the key pieces to unlocking their authentic voice. The process of creation, guiding the creative along their journey, and helping them achieve their most authentic voice is a priceless moment.

The journey to finding and tapping into one’s authentic voice does not always take a direct path, often times it is woven with those same twists, turns, high and low moments, but at the end of it all there is joy. Joy in the fact, that by the end of the process, whether long or short, the creative has accessed a new level of themselves. This is the feeling and experience I want to give to every project that I am a part of.
