Chloe Dulce Louvouezo

I am a visionary editorial and visual storyteller who delights in crafting human-centered, mission-driven content from concept to delivery. Originally from the Republic of Congo and raised in Niger and across the U.S., my passion for storytelling is rooted in illuminating the best of humanity through nuanced stories that both inspire and inform.

My writing career began as a Journalism student at Howard University and continued with a Master’s in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University. Since then, I have built my 17-year career as a seasoned creative and communications strategist and advisor, producer, and author.

I have written and produced compelling stories across written, stage, and film platforms to advance issues around gender equity, economic mobility, and mental health. I’ve had the opportunity to produce on-stage programming for policymakers, renowned global experts, and celebrity talent. Most recently, I was the senior-most content producer for Melinda French Gates, overseeing creative production and content strategy focused on women’s economic power at the Gates Foundation.

I have also led a portfolio of creative work driven by discourse on identity and healing across the Black diaspora. In 2020, I executive produced the Life, I Swear podcast and has since released 80+ episodes on the topics of mental health and wellness of Black women. In 2021, I released my debut book, Life, I Swear: Intimate Stories from Black Women on Identity, Healing, and Self-Trust (HarperCollins Publishers, November 2021), a memoir and anthology of essays from 26 Black women. The book was featured in the New York Times, Essence, Shondaland, Ebony, and Washingtonian, among others, and was winner of the 2022 San Francisco Book Festival. In addition to my writing, I facilitate writing seminars that help participants shift how they see themselves and their writing work while building community with like-minded creatives. I am a facilitator with Rosemary’s House writing retreat in Sithonía, Greece, and I lead my own retreat series through my creative studio, Root and Story.

Based in Washington, DC, I am locally engaged as an appointee on DC Mayor Bowser’s Commission for Women, where I support citywide initiatives championing health and human services and public policy safety for women. I am also on the Global Africa Council for the Smithsonian National African Art Museum and am a founding board member of HURU and The Black Healing Collective.
