Stephanie Smith

I’m an award-winning author, journalist, ghostwriter and editor who has written more than a dozen books for children and adults. I’ve been a writer since I could pick up a pen; I’ve been reading even longer—ask my mom about the time she caught me perusing her Stephen King novels when I was 3.

I love unearthing stories that others have either overlooked or haven’t identified. As a longtime New York-based journalist, I’ve covered music, fashion, business, and every boldfaced name from presidents to the most polarizing of reality stars. My work has appeared in dozens of publications including The New York Post, Yahoo!, Time, People, Money, WWD and several Condé Nast publications. My books, including bestselling titles at Amazon and Target, have been published by Random House, Rodale and West Margin Press, among others.

My superpower is that people tell me things. No matter how famous, private or surrounded by gatekeepers a subject might be, they reveal things to me they don’t tell others. I don’t interrogate, but I am authentically curious about people’s journeys.

I’ve identified stories that have made front page headlines, built businesses, and “broken the internet,” including my own. My first book, “300 Sandwiches: A Multilayered Love Story…with Recipes,” was published in 2015 after I wrote a piece about my blog about love and sandwiches (300sandwiches.com) for The New York Post. The story gathered over 1 billion media impressions in one week, and led to my book deal.

I’m skilled in writing and editing business memoirs and self-help/personal development books, and love projects that incorporate my background in yoga and wellness as a certified yoga teacher and health coach.

I also love writing children’s fiction, and am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the Association of Ghostwriters and the American Society of Journalists and Authors.

When I’m not writing, I’m dancing, cooking, drawing and renovating a 180-year-old historic river house in Bucks County, PA. I do my best writing on the road, and never met an airport lounge or train that I didn’t turn into my own private writer’s den.
